Counter-Human Trafficking...
Tonya wrote Traffick Proof in 2007 when she heard the 'near miss' stories of women she'd befriended in the local township. Human trafficking had happened to people they knew, but they had no word for it. So, she created this simple presentation to give the ‘most at risk’ the knowledge and resources to be protect themselves, their families, and their communities from human trafficking. As no prevention tool existed in the nation at the time, it had to be simple and reproducible. She'd merely asked God, "What can one person do?" Traffick Proof was the answer. She'd no idea she'd created a tool around which a nation would be mobilized in their human trafficking response, nor one that would touch hundreds of thousands of lives across the world. In 2010, her Justice Acts team (with government assistance) rolled out a nation wide prevention campaign. That year alone, they Traffick Proofed 80,000 South Africans, with the help of other organizations, government and churches. But, it didn't stop there. Reports of Traffick Proof's came from all across Africa and on most continents. And, they continue to come in. Over the years, campaigns have been rolled out in Thailand, France, Moldova, the USA, Malawi, Uganda, New Zealand, the Caribbean, etc. We've lost count of how many this tool has reached, how many languages it has been translated into, and how many forms it has been adapted into... including being used as curriculum in schools as far as Mexico and a prevention tool for child pornography used by the South African government! God did far more than Tonya could have asked for or imagined. Justice Acts was part of sponsoring a bill which resulted in South Africa's comprehensive anti-human trafficking legislation. They were also able to launch the nation's 1st safe house for survivors of human trafficking. Today another 100,000 (at minimum) souls have been Trafficked Proofed. Justice Acts continues on with a new leader, working to prevent human trafficking in South Africa. And, S-Cape Safehouse for victims of human trafficking, founded in 2011, just welcomed it's 100th survivor of human trafficking. https://s-cape.org.za/ Tonya is the first to say, "God did this." All she meant to do was write a manual to protect a few ladies she loved!
